Which Canteen?

Thank you for printing this article ("Book recalls days of North Platte Canteen" June 5, 2002).

I stumbled upon this book when I mentioned McCook to a neighbor. I told her of my experience at the McCook Railroad station during World War II as I was taking a group of recruits to Wyoming.

She said she had a book about it -- BUT it was North Platte.

I was confused, because McCook was so imbedded in my memory. Now I understand. The ladies were so gracious and told me that my group was the best behaved group they had had. The ladies did a great service to the boys -- and their country.
