Will miss doctor

Monday, February 2, 2004

Dear Editor,

I read with much pain and tears in my eyes about the resignation of Dr. John Groves. For 13 years, he has been my doctor and the doctor of my late husband Paul Winder.

With his great medical knowledge, compassion and his ability to treat the total person he carried us through a very hard time, actually helping Paul to live five years longer than the specialist has predicted. After Paul's death, he guided me through some very bad periods of grief as well as some serious illness.

During this same time, he helped me deal with a very bad situation with one of my sons. After I married Gaylord Cappel, he continued to be my very special doctor. Dr. Free, whom I have also learned to love and trust was Gaylord's doctor and when he wasn't available Dr Grove also treated Gaylord.

These two fine doctors helped make the last days of Gaylord's life as comfortable as possible. Dr Grove has continued to be my strong support person through this grief and through some illnesses. So as I have learned of his leaving I feel that I have lost the best doctor that I have ever had, along with a close friend, and a fine man who seems like a member of my family. I wish him all of God's richest blessing, and I know that I will truly miss him as will many of the people from the McCook area.

Sincerely,

Ardess Winder Cappel

McCook
