No speedway

Monday, February 2, 2004

Dear Editor,

It is my opinion that the 6/34 highway is not a "speedway."

I have traveled 6/34 every day for the last 11 years, back and forth from work (I live 18 miles away) and as I travel east, people are in the biggest hurry. I get passed a lot from the airport road on out.

People don't seem to see the speed limit signs, and there is not enough law enforcement to take note of this.

The speed limit is 35, and as you travel east it is 45, in front of the Red Horse, and it does not increase to 65 until you pass the house just east of the Red Horse.

This does not mean that the second you get to airport road you stomp on it and hit 70 miles a hour like most people do. Nine times out of ten there is no law enforcement around, so it is no wonder people do it all the time and get away with it. Someday there will be a real serious accident and they would have wished they slowed down. By then it will be too late, after it takes a life of a loved one. So let's work together and keep the deaths down, and slow down, you can not be in that big of a hurry.

Life is too short to speed your way out of town.

Thank you,

Kevin Dunn
