Letter to the Editor

Someone had to pay

Wednesday, January 28, 2004

Dear Editor,

Yesterday you published a letter in Speak Out, captioned "Genocide times two."

In it the writer alludes to the loss of human life in the Noahic flood and the soon coming 7-year Tribulation. Billions of people lost their lives in the flood and billions more will lose their lives in the coming Tribulation due to Gods judgement on the wicked. The writer then says, "This is not a God I want to know."

The writer is asking the question, "Is God just in bringing this kind of judgement on the human race?" The writer fails to give us the rest of the picture (or story). May I present that to you now?

The whole world celebrates Christmas but not everyone knows why Christ came to this earth and became incarnate in a body of flesh and his humanity was called Jesus. John 3:16 tells us why, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish (go to Hell), but have everlasting life (go to Heaven).

The Bible says that, "Jesus tasted death on behalf of every man." Why? Because God saw how helpless we were, because of our sinful nature, to attain a state of sinless perfection and keep His laws. So the God-man Christ Jesus did it for us. The Bible says, "Jesus was tested in every point like as we are, yet without sin."

John 3:17-18 says, "For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved. vs 18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned (will not come into or under the judgement of God): but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

Yes, Jesus took our punishment by "Bearing our sins in His own body on the tree." To escape the punishment God has decreed for your sins you must accept Jesus as your Savior.

Someone had to pay the price for your sins and that someone was Jesus.

God's justice has been served.

Sincerely,

Paul Schneider
