The water affair

The city of McCook's water problems remind me so much of every day life. Think of the City Council as a husband, and its present water system as a loving wife. She's not "perfect," but she's reliable, faithful and already in place, catering to her husband. Husband (council) begins to think that the grass is greener on the other side of the county line (new water wells) and starts pursuing an affair until his friends (city of McCook dwellers) find out.

They are screaming for him to pull his head out of his sewer system before it's too late and put his time, efforts, money and common sense into the relationship he already has (present water system), nurture it appreciate it and take care of it (water treatment) and it'll last a lifetime.

Meanwhile someone else tries to "block" the affair (new water wells) by threatening blackmail (feedlots) and if said affair goes through, blackmailer wants compensated for having to watch it happen. In reality, how many affairs have happy endings?

The husband (council) has had one affair (air base) already and friends (city of McCook dwellers) are still trying to accept the mistake and move on. If husband doesn't pull his head out of his pipeline, he'll have fewer and fewer friends and other happy couples (surrounding towns like Indianola and Culbertson) will welcome the friends with open arms!
