Letter to the Editor

Church commended

Tuesday, December 30, 2003

Dear Editor,

Early in December, it was my pleasure to accompany the well-honed McCook Community Chorus in an Advent-Christmas season concert presented in the Memorial United Methodist Church, playing the church's recently renovated pipe organ in both solo and accompanying roles.

I would like to commend the church for the vision and commitment to renovate and maintain this remarkable organ.

The organ's significance lies not only in its contribution to the quality of worship for those who worship at Memorial United Methodist Church, but in its influence on and contribution to the arts in the McCook community and area as well.

I would also like to commend the McCook Daily Gazette for the generous coverage of the organ's renovation project as it was under way. Not only did the article raise awareness of the McCook Methodist pipe organ, it raised the awareness of other well-maintained pipe organs in the Republican Valley as well.

Those organs are in Trinity Lutheran Church, Arapahoe; St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Indianola; St. Paul's Lutheran Church on the Chase-Dundy county line south of Enders; and Zion Lutheran Church, Imperial.

Sincerely yours,

J. Gordon Christensen, AAGO

Imperial
