Why not treat now?

Tuesday, December 30, 2003

Dear Editor,

I am a senior citizen of McCook and I am writing in regard to the water situation.

My water bill is getting so high, and I'm told that it will go higher. I don't see how we as senior citizens and lots of other citizens in McCook are going to pay our bills.

I think as citizens of McCook we should be entitled to see the figures that compare the price of water treatment and use the wells we have by adding a few more wells, rather than going 15 miles north of McCook and putting in a new water field, and then piping it clear into McCook.

There was no mention about how much the pipeline would cost to get the water into McCook. I am sure somewhere down the road we will have to treat the water wherever it comes from.

So, why not put in a treatment plant now instead of spending all the money to develop a new water field?

Fran Broz,

McCook
