Was it staged?

Looking at the photo of the dog, I cannot help but think this is a "staged event."

Five days in a foot hold trap would have caused the eventual loss of blood flow to the lower extremity of the paw, thus the paw would not be almost "normal" in the photo. True, it appears to have some type of abrasion on the lower leg above the foot. but, five days? I doubt it very seriously.

More than just occasionally, the animal activists will pull this type of shenanigan to sway public opinion against lawful, ethical trapping.

This is not the first time this has occurred in various parts of the country. I would strongly advise you to investigate this type of story to its fullest in the future.

I feel sure that you would not want to print unsubstantiated stories that could possibly lead to an enormous negative impact on the necessary implementation of legal trapping within the boundaries of your state.
