Letter to the Editor

Public priorities

Monday, November 10, 2003

Dear Editor,

Once again, officials are studying how to solve the school problems. A good solution was voted down twice. Not many people live in homes as old as our schools without updating them.

How many years did it take to get two wonderful golf courses?

How many years of planning before the Senior Center was built, and now millions are being spent to add on so the Seniors can be comfortable wherever and whenever.

Our kids should be so lucky.

It took little time to get the race track and the Kiplinger entertainment places built.

Our medical places keep a constant update. Why do we need seven or eight radio stations?

Most homes are amply supplied with the latest "tools and toys." Entertainment is a must.

Our kids work and study in crowded, outdated places eight hours a day. Why are they last of importance?

When everyone is entertainment-happy, the seniors are taken care of, young families have bypassed McCook because of high taxes and water problems, then who will pay the high cost of living in McCook?

Grace Hanthorn,

McCook
