Privy memories

Dear Editor,

I am doing research for a documentary on that vanishing and now almost extinct American landmark -- namely the "privy," "out-house," sometimes called the "convenience."

I welcome letters from those seniors who still have nostalgic memories, comical experiences, photos, drawings and jokes on the "out-house" of days gone by.

Under the Roosevelt administration, there were well over 50,000 WPA privies built in the rural areas -- modern technology of "indoor plumbing" has caused its demise and almost complete extinction."
