Join the military

In regard to "Epicurean swine," by Steve Stramel, Monday, Oct. 27:

Steve, you are politically confused. The U.S. of A. is not a democracy, we are a republic.

I'll give you two examples. One, the majority of people in this country believe that abortion is murder and disapprove of the current liberal abortion laws. Two, the majority of people in this country are not offended when we hear the phrase "One nation, under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance or when we see a depiction of the Ten Commandments.

In a democracy, the majority rules. In my estimation of the facts, the United States is just barely a republic. If the politicians are attempting to model Iraq as America is, they are building a republic.

In reading your letters, you appear to be a young man. I would like to suggest that you enlist in the military.

Your drill instructors will be able to instill in you a fresh appreciation of freedom and the many brave men and women who have and are defending this great country.

Why not impeach?

I'm kind of curious as to why Steve Stramel says we can't impeach Bush, and why shouldn't we. Steve?
