Demolition mishap

The scene at West Fifth and M

A puff of smoke floats into the air and sparks fly at lower right after a cable snapped during the attempted demolition of the old water standpipe at West Fifth and M. No one was injured in the mishap, which occurred after the tower was cut around the base with blowtorches. The city banned outside watering until further notice because of the power outage.
