BEAVER CITY -- Bonnie J. McClain, 82, died Thursday (March 21, 2002) at Beaver City Manor.
She was born Jan. 25, 1920, to John and Mabel (Chambers) Bickford at Beaver City. She graduated from Hendley High School in 1938.
On June 20, 1943, she married A.F. "Cotton" McClain in Norton, Kan. The couple ran Bickford Service in Hendley until the early 1960s. She was a village clerk for a number of years in Hendley. She also served on the Furnas County Red Cross Board, Hendley Cemetery Board and Furnas County Election Board.
She was a member of the Hendley United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and she held a number of offices within the church over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Survivors include one son, Ronald and wife, Janet McClain of Beaver City; two grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Services are Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Hendley United Methodist Church in Hendley with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City.
Visitation is Saturday, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Sunday, 1 - 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City.
