Norbert Adam Sulzman

OBERLIN -- Norbert Adam Sulzman, 82, died Wednesday (April 17, 2002) at the Decatur County Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1919, to John and Antonette (Simpson Zodrow) Sulzman in Selden. He attended Selden Grade School and graduated from Selden Rural High School.

He served in World War II as a U. S. Marine Corps staff sergeant.

On Jan. 3, 1944, he married Amelia Pauls in Selden. He was a retired insurance agent.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, American Legion Post No. 70, and the Pearl Harbor Survivors oraganization.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, George, Edward, Johnny, Lawrence and Leo; and three sisters, Appy, Rita and Pauline.

Survivors include his wife, Millie of Oberlin; two sons, Ronald and wife, Linda Sulzman of Hays and Darius Sulzman of Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Jolene and husband, Bill Grant of Lexington, Annette Sulzman of Denver and Melanie Purvis of Louisville, Colo.; one brother, Norris and wife, Maxine Sulzman of Selden; one sister, Bernita Aumiller of Selden; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church in Oberlin with the Rev. James Hoover and Sister Marilyn Wall officiating. Interment will be at the Oberlin Cemetery.

The vigil service will be Sunday, 7:30 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin.

Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday, 1-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
