Active Older Adult Day is Thursday
The Ed Thomas YMCA will celebrate National YMCA Active Older Adult Day on Thursday with an Interactive Health Fair from 8 a.m. to noon. At the same time it also will host an Arts & Craft show.
Beginning at 8 a.m. the YMCA will conduct weight room clinics demonstrating proper lifting techniques and weight room etiquette. The staff will also help design personnel exercise programs. In addition to the weight room clinics, the staff will also be instructing the very popular "Silver Foxx" and a class on proper Stretching techniques. The staff will also be introducing a new class called Pilates. Pilates is a new form of exercise, which builds flexibility, balance and strength by focusing on alignment, breathing and form. Not to forget those who like to exercise in the water there will be no charge for those wishing to try the very popular Water Therapy Class. Anna Sis, Aquatic Director, will be conducting a swimming stroke assessment session in the pool for those wishing to improve their swimming skills from 8 to 9 a.m.
Vicki Malleck with the Country Steppers will be teaching a two sessions of country western line dancing in the YMCA gymnasium with the first session from 9 to 9:45 and the second session will be held from 11 to 11:45.
In conjunction to the Interactive Health Fair the YMCA will be sponsoring an Art and Craft Show with local artists displaying their various forms of painting, quilting, wood carving/wood crafting and stain glass.
There is no charge for this event and refreshments will be served.
