CURTIS -- City council members are fine-tuning the project. The land sale will probably close the end of the month, and architects are in the design and development stage. Each step moves the community of Curtis closer to a new medical and community center.

Preliminary plans show meeting and activities conference rooms, an indoor basketball court and gym, weight room, running / walking track, kitchen and shower facilities.

The medical clinic area would include examination rooms, office space, lab, X-ray, surgery and dental facilities.

The project is expected to cost between $1.5 million and $2 million.

It would be financed with grants and a bond issue subject to a bond election.
