Lives on line

Monday, June 9, 2003

Dear Editor,

A young man named Ryan Cappelletty was killed in the line of duty in Chesterfield, Va., while working for the county police department recently. This represents a personal loss to us, as one year ago, we watched him marry our niece, Racheal.

We wish to thank each and every one of the law enforcement officers that put their lives on the line every day. This would include local police, sheriff's officers and State Patrol -- no matter where. Thank God there are men and women willing to do this work.

If you want to go to a Web site that will help you realize what their ultimate sacrifice is all about, go to www.odmp.org. This means "Officer Down Memory Page." Yes, Ryan Cappelletty is in there. You can view the officer's reflections. Fortunately, and unfortunately, the list keeps growing.
