Well wishes

Editors note: The following letter, addressed to former Gov. Frank Morrison, was received in the Gazette office from his friend Dan Williams of Lincoln.

Dear Frank Morrison:

Several days ago I had a good talk with Dick Herman. Most of that talk was about you, Governor Morrison, and the storytelling program at the High Plains Museum. Dick had a wonderful time and I'm sure you did too.

I wish I could have been there.

Your many friends in Lincoln miss you and Maxine. I surely treasure my friendship with you both.

Today's paper (the Lincoln Journal Star) tells of your cancer, but also of your plans to be in Lincoln on June 20th for a public television interview with Bob Kerrey. I won't miss that.

Twelve years ago I was hit with colon cancer. After two surgeries and both chemotherapy and radiation treatment, they gave me five years. But I'm still around. We both must stick around until the inauguration of President Hilary Clinton after the 2008 election.

Please give my love and best wishes to Maxine.

Your friend and admirer, Dan Williams

Lincoln

P.S. On June 25, at the Cornhusker we're having the 70th Class Reunion of the Lincoln High Class of 1933. A few of us are still around.
