Air service has other benefits

Dear Editor,

Concerning the editorial in the Wednesday, Aug. 27 edition about airline service into and out of McCook:

I used the service to Denver enroute to Portland, near the end of July 2003, and highly recommend it, especially for older persons.

Besides the mentioned benefits, air cap service is available at a nominal fee (more or less at your discretion) and they can transport you (in a wheel chair, if requested or desired) and your baggage from and to the required terminal.

There can be what seems like miles of walking in the Denver airport, and I felt the $5 tip was well worth it, and there was no anxiety haunting the terminal, which can involve elevators, escalators and high-speed shuttle.

Would it be possible, as a public service, to publish daily (or at least weekly) the times of the service available on both Amtrak and Great Lakes airliines, and bus, if available, both east and west. Neither seems to have a budget, which allows paid advertising, and it would not favor either service or infringe on any other business in McCook. the phone numbers of each of these services could be published.

My fare was $150 round trip, which when driving time and expense, plus elimination of the traffic hazards and parking fees are taken into consideration, I believe is very well worth it, and if special fares are available, even better.
