Detention plans draw Heritage Day protest

McCOOK, Neb. - The message went out from an entity called “Indivisible,” which describes itself as a nonprofit organization that “drives coordinated campaigns” to “defeat the rightwing takeover of American government.” The message read, in part, “Many Nebraskans feel that the unlawful round-ups and detentions of immigrants by ICE are inconsistent with Nebraskan values.” The invitation then specified, “Come protest the creation of this detention center in McCook on September 20th at 1:00 p.m.”...
