Christmas greetings

I want to take this week's column to wish all Nebraskans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. During this time of year our thoughts and prayers go out to the men and women -- and their families -- who risk their lives to defend our freedoms. In his radio address to the nation on Christmas Eve 1983, President Ronald Reagan spoke eloquently about the sacrifices our men and women in uniform have made for our country. There has been considerable grumbling about the fact that the Cornhuskers will have to play in San Diego's Holiday Bowl, (a lesser Bowl game) against Washington, an opponent they defeated soundly earlier in the season...
