Keep online with kids about Internet dangers
(Editorial ~ 04/28/07)
You wouldn't drop your child off unsupervised in the downtown of large metropolitan area. Why then do so many allow their children to face just as many hazards, by allowing them to "surf" unsupervised on the Internet? Certainly not any responsible parent who heard what two experts had to say at a recent Internet safety session at the McCook Public Library...

Crime is crime
(Letter to the Editor ~ 04/28/07)
I totally agree with Mark Kinne and Bill Retner's comments the other day about what happened at the high school. I find it very disturbing to know that students would do that to their school, their teachers, their coaches, etc. What they did affected everyone. ...

Talking about how tight the budget was when relying solely on property tax revenue, Mayor Flora Lundberg stated that "I personally know all those department heads and not a one would ask for one dollar more that is absolutely required to operate their department." Boy did she live in a dream world. ...

The more I learn, the less I know
(Column ~ 04/28/07)
I intended to respond to the column written in this newspaper last week by another columnist in regards to the "character" of customers who patronize Old Sarge's as opposed to customers at The Looking Glass and the Coppermill. But several others beat me to the punch and said it better than I could have; namely David McConnell, Jordan Bass, Kirt Matson, and Gloria Masoner...
