Boost for the water system

The new booster station for west McCook is lifted into place Wednesday by Doak Construction's large crane. The $250,000 facility, constructed by Engineered Fluid Inc. of Centralia, Ill., will replace a smaller booster station which has been in use since 1964. Jesse Dutcher, McCook's utility director, said the new booster station will be put into service before Oct. 1. The other day I was sent on assignment to interview a group of men travelling through Nebraska on tractors. I felt like jumping on the back of one of their trailers. After spending a few days on the road with my oldest son earlier this year, making a couple of trips across the state in a car and making a three-day trip to central Nebraska, I'm thinking about exchanging my SUV for a Mini-Cooper, giving up all this glory and travelling...
