Talk Radio

As I was driving my way east on Friday with the dog and a van load of stuff, I was scanning the radio. I even had to resort to the AM band to try and find something half way decent to listen to. I am the only one in the family that likes to listen to talk radio and NPR's "All Things Considered". ATC was not on yet so I was scanning to see what station I could pick up with any clarity.

I came upon a show and the guy was almost giddy with excitement about John McCain's choice of running mate. I turned it up to listen. Oh my - was it true... McCain had nominated a woman?

Yes, and unless you have lived under a rock over the weekend you know that too.

That hasn't happened for a couple of decades and never on the Republican ticket

But whatever your politics are... the guy had an interesting point during his talk. Voting for president is something you may get to do 15 or so times in your life if you are lucky. He also said most people will remember who they vote for each time. He also pointed out that whomever wins this election cycle, it will be historic. There will either be a woman vice-president or a man who is African-American will be elected to the presidency. Neither of which has happened before.

Could be an interesting fall for politics - no matter which side of the aisle you choose.
