Signs Your Pet Needs To See A VetPosted Monday, September 8, 2008, at 8:10 PM
I was playing around on one of my favorite veterinary web sites and I found this. We get asked this question on a daily basis and honestly, it's getting old. Here's a very good list:
Vomiting (bring in within 1 day or less) Diarrhea (bring in within 1 day or less) Unintended weight loss or increase Change in appetite--decreased or increased Change in normal activity level: lethargy, hyperactivity, or restlessness Limping (within 1-2 days unless it's dangling) Sudden inability to move back legs ASAP Crying in pain when touched (bring in within 1 day or less) Clumsy or disoriented behavior ASAP Seizures (let us know how long it lasted and how severe) Any loss of consciousness (other than sleeping) Coughing, especially at night Panting in a cat Any difficulty breathing or labored breathing ASAP Any blue, purple, or pale hue to the tongue and gums ASAP Sudden collapse ASAP Excessive drooling Straining in the litter box without producing any urine ASAP Crying out while urinating (within 1-2 days) Change in urination: location, frequency, amount, color, smell (within 1-2 days) Bloated abdomen ASAP Sneezing excessively Uncontrolled bleeding ASAP Nose-bleed or bruising anywhere on body Any unusual odor Hair loss Runny eyes or nose Squinting (Same day it begins, eye problems are considered a minor emergency) Getting runover by a car, truck, tractor, motorcycle, etc ASAP Your pet is pregnant and in labor but hasn't had a pup/kitten in the last hour ASAP Sorry, we are legally required to see your pet before prescribing any medication. AND Payment is due at the time of service. Any questions? Oh, and PLEASE call before you come in so we can make sure we have a veterinarian available. Sometimes they are called out for a cattle or horse emergency out in the country. Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

Support your local Vet. They are there for your livestock, and pets. They make their living through medical and dietary services and sales.
Remember, when you desire to save a couple of dollars, by ordering your pet medication from an 'on-line' source, you do not know the people serving the on-line facility, and you are robing your local Vet of needed income.
Sorry, those TV ads have been bugging me for some time, and I just had to defend our local Vet's.
