Falcons finish eighth at Class D state; Eagle leads pack

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Southern Valley’s Kamden Bose was a top 20 placer and Hitchcock County finished eighth among 15 in the Class D state golf race Wednesday.

Bose shot 168 for the two days with an 82 and 86 which shared 19th place overall among about 75 Class D state qualifiers.

Hitchcock freshman Jack Baker paced the Falcons with his 171 for 26th place.

Baker’s score rose from 81 to 90 on Wednesday as winds also picked up off Lake Maloney near North Platte.

Sophomore teammate Ashton Parker-Johnson dropped from 89 to 86 for his two-day total of 175.

Freshman Brayden Meichert finished with a 190 at 86 and 94.

Southern Valley junior Braxton Hammond was next among area qualifiers, dropping from 94 to 87 for 181.

Mason Schilke was three strokes lower on Wednesday from 95 to 92 for 187.

Final Falcon state qualifier Darin Neben scored 191.

The best news for Hitchcock fans will be all five golfers should return to make another run at state next season.
