Annexation on agenda for Monday

McCOOK, Neb. — Opponents of a plan to annex land to expand McCook’s business park have one more chance to make themselves heard Monday night.

Following a hearing on a request to rezone the property from agricultural in industrial heavy, the City Council will consider on the third and final reading a voluntary annexation of land owned by Perry and Vicky Case east of the current business park and north of Ravenswood Road.

The meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday in City Council Chambers, will also include updates on the swimming pool and ballpark projects.

Other routine items on the agenda include requests from the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department to rezone its office on West 10th from residential medium density to business commercial, requests related to MNB’s Hot Summer Nights concert July 13, Peace Lutheran’s Vacation Bible School on June 14, a request concerning the third annual Big West Street Fest 3on3 basketball tournament Aug. 5, and liquor licenses for Citta’ Deli for Farrell’s Sip ‘n Shop July 14 and the fairgrounds concert July 21 and for Loop Brewing Co. for a wedding at the Keystone and Norris Alley July 1,

An agreement with Verizon to replace equipment and an underwriting contract with D.A. Davidson are also on the consent agenda.

The council will also be asked to designate May 21-27 as National Public Works Week and National Emergency Medical Services Week.
