McCook tennis girls take home 28 JV victories

LEXINGTON, Neb. — McCook’s JV tennis girls simply overwhelmed Lexington with 28 wins to open their 2023 season Tuesday afternoon.

The rundown of singles victories:

Junior Liliana Harris and sophomore Brooklyn Gillen scored 6-0 sweeps as did freshmen Kapri Loop and Abby Renner.

Abby Schneider, Jaylee Hammond, Olivia Eschliman, Paige Broomfield and Brooke Brown all won 6-1.

Harper Stevens, Grace Wilhelmson and Bailee Foster took 6-2 decisions.

Doubling up their Lexington foes 6-3 were Laci Stewart, Paige Wolcott, Elizabeth McConville, Chayse Johnson and Lacey Rouse.

Bailee Fawver fought to a 6-4 victory while Aynslei Miller captured the one 6-5 thriller.

McCook doubles teams also dominated though there where no 6-0 sweeps.

Gillen-Stewart, Foster-Loop, Harris-Renner and Rouse-Brown celebrated 6-1 victories.

Stevens-Wolcott, Schneider-Hammond and Sabrina Vrbas-Madison Wilcox claimed “triplets” status by all winning 6-2.

Johnson-Broomfield prevailed 6-4 and there was one 7-5 “overtime” match where Miller and Fawver triumphed.

The Bison JV will play their first home matches day against Hershey (2 p.m.) and North Platte (4 p.m.).
