Airport sees decline in passenger numbers
McCOOK, Neb. — Passenger numbers in December for those flying from McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport to Denver were 154, a 13.48% decrease from December 2021 with 178 passengers.
The total number of passengers flying from McCook to Denver in 2022 was 1,130, compared to 1,974 passengers in 2021, a 42.76% decrease.
There were 137 passengers who flew from Denver to McCook in December, a 16.46% decrease from December 2021 with 164 passengers. For 2022, the total number of passengers who flew to McCook from Denver was 1,300, a 33.33% drop from 1,950 passengers in 2021.
Since June, Denver Air Connection has been the federally-subsidized Essential Air Service airline at the McCook airport, replacing Boutique Air. The airline offers two daily flights Monday through Friday to Denver and one daily flight on the weekend.
There were 51 flights each scheduled for flights coming in and going out of the McCook airport in December, with four cancellations due to weather and two due to no passengers.
