John E. Fox

CULBERTSON, Neb. — John E. Fox, age 67, of Culbertson, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 in Lincoln, Neb.

John was born April 16, 1953, in Julesburg, Colo., to Lewis B. and Marjorie Ruth (Smith) Fox. He was one of three children born to this union. John grew up in Big Springs, Neb., and graduated from Big Springs High School in 1971.

On June 21, 1975, John married Printha L. (Bobst) Fox in Big Springs. They lived in Big Springs, Curtis, and in the Maywood area. To this union three children were born.

In 1978, John graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Neb. Shortly after graduation, his family moved to the Culbertson community.

Over the years, John worked as a farm hand, truck driver and feed mill worker. He enjoyed hunting, wood turning, reading and watching his children play sports. He raised a variety of different animals that included miniature donkeys, ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, pheasants, sheep and goats. John was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson, where he was a Sunday School Teacher and lay leader. John was a member of the Prairie Statesman Barbershop Quartet, Hitchcock County 4-H Council, and MS Society. John was a bowhunter safety instructor and the Nebraska Representative of the Physically Challenged Bowhunters of America.

John loved to spend time outdoors with family and friends, camping and hunting. The family shares fond memories of their annual trips to Halsey National Forest for the Nebraska Bowhunter Jamboree. John loved his grandchildren dearly.

John is survived by his wife, Printha Fox of Culbertson; children, Amanda (Tony) White of Paxton, Neb., Lewis (Crystal) Fox of Lincoln, Neb., and Jeffrey (Brenda) Fox of Bennet, Neb.; sisters, Judy Knoblock of Grayslake, Ill., and Connee (Steve) Kruml of Gordon, Neb.; and seven grandchildren, Isaiah, Micah, Miah, Jeremiah, Nylah, Victoriah, and Karleigh.

John was proceeded in death by his parents.

Visitation is Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE from 5-7 p.m., with family greeting friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at 11 a.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with Pastor Alisa Parde, officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. (MT), at the Big Springs Cemetery in Big Springs, Neb.
