McCOOK, Neb. — Barbara A. (Jones) Hixson, 82, of McCook, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at Community Hospital in McCook.

She was born on Oct. 9, 1938, in Wauneta, Neb., the daughter of the late, Eugene W. Jones and Anna E. (Hixon) Jones.

Barbara grew up in McCook and attended McCook City schools. She graduated from McCook High School with the Class of 1957. On Oct. 4, 1955, Barbara married Harry E. Hixson at Pickens, S.C.

Barbara was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook. She loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always raised a large garden and loved to work in her flowers. Barbara did genealogy and spent many hours crocheting. She also loved spending time at the trailer at Lake Ogallala and fishing. Barbara and Harry enjoyed traveling together, the couple took several trips to Canada as well as some overseas.

She was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Catherin Myers; grandson, Angus Myers; two brothers, William E. Jones and James R. Jones; and sister-in-law, Nancy Jones.

Survivors include her husband, Harry of McCook; daughters, Debra K. Maris and husband, Gerald of Culbertson, Neb.; Peggy J. Savage of Omaha, Neb.; and Linda L. Koetter of McCook; son-in-law, Arden Myers of McCook; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara chose cremation and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to her family for future designation. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com.
