Anthony Wayne Heble

ATWOOD, Kan. — Anthony Wayne Heble was born the youngest child of Rudolph and Rose (Micek) Heble on Sept. 2, 1937, at the family farm northwest of Atwood, Kan.; where he also departed this life on Nov. 11, 2020, at the age of 83 years, two months and nine days.

Tony was a lifelong resident of Rawlins County. He attended elementary school at Queen of Driftwood School in the Driftwood Township of northern Rawlins County, followed by St. Joseph’s Military Academy, in Hays, Kan., graduating with the Class of 1955. He then enlisted in the Army Reserves. After his discharge, he returned to Atwood to help his parents operate the family farm.

On Sept. 10, 1960, Tony married Patricia Sue Wolfe, daughter of Uma and Harry Wolfe. To this union four children were born: Anthony, Dawna, Aaron and Dana. They made their home 10 miles northwest of Atwood on the Heble family farm. Tony spent his years farming, providing for his family.

His wife of 51 years, Patricia S. Heble, departed this life on Dec. 4, 2011. He remarried Virgina Haller Musgrave Cahoj on Dec. 8, 2013 and moved to town, but would drive to the farm almost every day to keep a close eye on things.

Tony enjoyed farming, fishing with many close friends and family, playing cards, visiting and having coffee with the neighbors.

He was a devoted member of the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Rudolph and Rose Heble; his wife, Patricia S. Heble; son, Anthony B. Heble; great-grandson, Aden M. Reeves; brothers, Clarence Heble and Alfred Heble and sisters, Bernice Adams, Margaret Cahoj, Mary Ann Sramek and Alice Sramek.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Aaron (Karla); daughters, Dawna Vap (Korky Vernon) and Dana Philpott (Greg); sister, Bea Clark of Oacoma, S.D.; brothers-in-law, Richard Neuhart and Glenn Haller; five grandchildren, Derik Vap, Tyson Vap (Shelby), Bailey Philpott (Brad Smith), Tory Fortin (Brady) and Mackenzie Rose Heble; seven great-grandchildren, Hallie Vap, Coy and Maggie Vap, Dylan White, Tristen and Ariann Smith and Annaleigh Fortin; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.

Visitation was Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Atwood, with a Vigil at 7 p.m. A private family funeral Mass will be held. A graveside service took place today, Nov. 17 2020, at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, rural Rawlins County.
