Shelby and Thatcher Skolout

MCCOOK, Neb. — Shelby Lynn Stevens and Thatcher Ivan Skolout, both of McCook, were united in marriage on Aug. 29, 2020, at the McCook Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Bruce Lester officiating.

Parents of the bride are Jesse and Stephanie Stevens of McCook. Grandparents are Mike and Anna Hays of McCook, Christy Stevens of McCook and the late Dan Stevens.

Parents of the bridegroom are Mike and Terri Skolout of McCook. Grandparents are the late Richard and Karen Dack, Patricia Skolout of Atwood, Kan., and the late Edgar Skolout.

Riley Kotschwar of McCook was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Alexus Fraser of Omaha, Neb., Marissa Stevens of North Platte, Neb., sister-in-law of the bride and Annie Elston of Omaha.

The bride’s personal attendant was Isabelle Clause of McCook.

The best man was Chris White, of St. Louis, Mo. Bridegroomsmen were Kyle Geisler and Bryceton Trew of Lincoln, Neb.

Ushers were Spencer Skolout, brother of the bridegroom, of Omaha, Clayton Skolout, brother of bridegroom, of McCook, Andrew Stevens, brother of the bride, of North Platte, Neb., and Ethan Hays, cousin of the bride, of Lincoln.

The flower girl was Joslyn Clause of McCook. The ring bearer was the bridegroom’s dog, Si.

Guest book attendants were Emily Alberts of McCook and Claire Bruneau of Coon Rapids, Minn., both cousins of the bride.

Music was provided by pianist Christy Stevens, grandmother of the bride, of McCook and Cheryl Christner of McCook, pianist/cello.

The reception was at McCook City Memorial Auditorium with host couples, Todd and Kathy Lichty of McCook, uncle/aunt of the bridegroom and Mark and Clifva Budke of McCook, great-uncle/aunt of bride.

Cake servers were Melanie Alberts of McCook and Amy Bruneau of Coon Rapids, both aunts of the bride. Music DJ’s were Andy Durner of McCook and Derek Beck of North Platte.

The couple made two attempts to take a honeymoon, unfortunately the pandemic, hurricanes, and fires have prevented them from doing so. They plan on taking a honeymoon sometime in the future.

The bride graduated from McCook High School in 2018. She’s been attending Clarkson College in Omaha to earn her bachelor of science degree since fall of 2018 and plans to graduate December 2021. She’s employed with Quality Living Institute in Omaha.

The bridegroom graduated from McCook High School in 2017. He’s been attending Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., since fall of 2017 to earn his degree in ag business and plans to graduate December 2020. He’s employed with Farm Credit Services of America.

The couple is residing in Omaha.
