James Thomas Wallace

McCOOK, Neb. — James Thomas Wallace, age 75, of McCook, passed away with family by his side on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at his home in McCook.

James was born Feb. 1, 1945, in McCook, to parents, Thomas Eugene and Helen Ione (Brisby) Wallace. He was one of two children born to this union. James attended school in McCook. He then enlisted in the United States Army in 1963. James proudly served his country as an Army sergeant while stationed in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1966. James later attended Linn Benton College in Albany, Ore.

While living in Oregon, James was employed by Colson and Colson Construction. He returned to the McCook Community in 2016. Though divorced, James was a proud father to two children: Jody Jean and James Robert. He was a member of the Catholic faith and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, auto restoration, gardening and yard work.

James was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Terry Brown.

Those left to celebrate his life include his daughter, Jody Jean Wallace of Salem, Ore; son, James Robert Wallace of Dallas, Ore.; granddaughter, Kayla Leona Wallace of Independence, Ore.; sister, Joan (Gilbert) Brown of McCook; three nieces, Debra Malleck of McCook, Deanna McMackin and Sherry Bandy, both of Lebanon, Ore.; two nephews, Perry Brown and Dennis Brown, both of Albany, Ore.; two great-grandchildren, Ailey and Jack Carlson; numerous great nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb., at a later date.
