INDIANOLA, Neb. — Connie Lee Downey of Indianola passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at Tri Valley Health System, Cambridge, Neb. She was 74 years old.
Connie was born on Jan. 9, 1945. to parents, Cecil and Elsie (Wolfe) Laverack. She graduated from Cambridge High School with the Class of 1963.
In 1963 she was united marriage to John Fries. To this union five children were born. Connie was a busy homemaker and mother. John preceded her in death in December of 1986. She was later married to Paul Downey in December of 2002.
She was employed by Tri Valley Health for 21 years, and McCook Community Health until her retirement. She enjoyed doing home health for various people and was widely known for her caring heart. When she found time to relax, she enjoyed crocheting, collecting, attending garage sales and auctions
Preceding her in death were her parents, Cecil and Elsie Laverack; husband, John Fries; and two brothers, Vernon and Harold Laverack.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Downey of Indianola; three daughters, Jacci (Richard) Remington of Danbury, Jessica (Ken) Wioskowski of Hastings and Rebecca (Ralph) Stevens of Stratton; two sons, Kenny (Rhonda) Fries of Hershey and Robert (Robin) Fries of Denver, Colo.; step-daughters, Tammy (Bob) Kerr and Rhonda (Brent) Riley, all of McCook; three sons, LeRoy (Sheryl) Downey of Seward, David (Tammy) Downey of Indianola and Larry (Susan) Doris of McCook; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; numerous family and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., at Lockenour Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. Family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m., to greet friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, 10:30 a.m., at Lockenour Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with Pastor Steve Bales officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Cambridge. Friends may leave online condolences at lockenourfh.com
