Charles Rodney Rogers

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Charles Rodney Rogers died on May 9, 2019, at Caring Bridges Nursing Home in Fairbanks.

Rodney was born in McCook, Neb., on Jan. 4, 1934, to Clarence and Clara (Tillery) Rogers. He attended McCook Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1951.

He served in the U. S. Army in Korea. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Kearney State College and worked for many years with the Forestry Service in Missoula, Mont., before moving to Fairbanks where he worked with the American Legion until his illness.

Rodney was pre-deceased by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Ida Rogers; and his brother-in-law, Ivan Schmid.

He is survived by his sister, Pat Schmid of McCook; nieces and nephews and many friends in Fairbanks.

Services with military honors was July 27, 2019, with burial in the Veterans Cemetery in Fairbanks.

Brantley Funeral Home of Fairbanks was in charge of arrangements.
