McCook girls earn two top five Lex places

McCook’s determined cross country girls ignited top two performances from both Bison teams at the Lexington Invitational on Tuesday.

Senior ElsiAnna Rodewald (fifth) and freshman Samantha Rodewald (sixth) powered the Bison into second overall, according to results posted at athletic.net.

The Bison boys later took second as a team.

“I would say we ran okay,” coach Tom Sughroue remarked. “The Lexington course is a challenging course. Adding the heat and humidity made it that much more difficult. We still ran well, but we will run better as the season goes along.”

McCook’s girls took four of the top 12 places as sophomore Grace Cappel and freshman Shawna Wilkinson finished only seconds from top 10. A glance at more results for the area:
