Randy Lee Bales

McCOOK, Neb. — Randy Lee Bales, age 62, of McCook, passed away at Community Hospital of McCook on Aug. 22, 2019.

He was born in Trenton, N.J., on Dec. 31, 1956, to Floyd and Norma (Stinnette) Bales. The family moved to McCook where Randy attended McCook High School and eventually married Gerry Real. Three children were born to this union; Gary, Sheree and Brian.

Randy served his country in the U.S. Navy as boatswain’s mate from 1974 until 1977, when he was honorably discharged. While in the Navy, Randy received his GED through a high school in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Randy married Carri Bussard and gained three daughters, Heather, Ana, and Sara.

Randy was a licensed journeyman electrician and worked for several companies throughout Nebraska, Colorado, and California. Randy loved watching the New York Mets play baseball! He also enjoyed fishing, camping, barbequing and working on home projects.

Randy was preceeded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Polly Bales and Otto and Ruby Stinnette; his parents, Floyd Bales and Norma Jean Doyle; and his sister, Robin Seabrook.

He is survived by his children, Gary Bales and wife, Michelle of Seward, Neb.; Heather Bales of Omaha, Neb.; Sheree Kerns of McCook; Ana Priest of McCook; Brian Bales and wife, Jennifer of Dubuque, Iowa; Sara Houghtelling and wife, Carrie of McCook; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings, Steve Bales and wife, Denise of McCook, Pam Foight and husband, Ron of Beaver City, Neb., and Tom Bales and wife Sheila of Nebraska City, Neb.

Randy chose to be a tissue donor for Nebraska Live On.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at the First Congregational Church of McCook with Pastor Steve Bales officiating. A 2 p.m. graveside service will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with military honors. A flower service will be at the church for family members preceding the funeral at 10 a.m.
