Prairie Roots Festival returns to Barnett Park Saturday

McCOOK, Neb. -- Now in its fourth year, the Prairie Roots Music Festival returns to Barnett Park in McCook on evening of Saturday, Aug. 24 with free live music from local and national artists, as well as food vendors and a beer garden. .

“Doors” open at 4 p.m. with music beginning at 5 p.m. through 10 p.m. The performers include Hunter Hicks, Shawn Hess, Grown-A $ $ Man Band and returning from last year, Duane Mark.

People are encouraged to come and go throughout the afternoon or stay the entire evening for the free, family-friendly concert.

In addition to the concert, the festival includes a beer garden, hosted by the McCook Chamber of Commerce and food for purchase from a variety of vendors including street tacos, BBQ, hamburgers and hot dogs, funnel cakes, snow cones, and kettle corn.

Several community organizations will also be hosting activities at Barnett Park throughout the day.

The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the concert, as well as games such as football, corn hole and frisbees. While food and non-alcoholic drinks are allowed and encouraged, no alcohol other than that purchased in the beer garden may be consumed in the park.

The Prairie Roots Festival is sponsored by Community Hospital, MNB Bank, the McCook Community Foundation Fund, Acme Printing and the McCook Chamber of Commerce.
