McCOOK, Neb. — Lorinda Kay Brandt, age 56, of McCook, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019, in McCook.

Lorie was born May 18, 1963, in Muncie, Ind., to parents, Richard Charles Dyer and Aubrey Gene (Stark) Stadtler. She attended school in Omaha, Neb., graduating high school from Omaha North in 1980. Lorie went on to attend the University of Iowa.

On June 27, 1981, Lorie married Frank Baumgardner in Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children. Lorie married Steven Spulak on Nov. 4, 1993, in Omaha. Steve and Lorie adopted Shawn as their son.

On July 12, 2017, Lorie married Jim Brandt in McCook, where the couple made their home. Lorie enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, playing the piano, crocheting blankets for her family, watching scary movies and listening to “oldies” music. She was an active member of the King Charles Cavalier Spaniels Facebook group and loved spending time with her dog, Snickers.

Lorie was preceded in death by her father, Dick Dyer; first husband, Frank Baumgardner; second husband, Steven Spulak; step-brother, Keith Dyer; step-daughter, Jolene Burns; and step-mother, Karla Dyer.

Those left to celebrate her life include her husband, Jim Brandt of McCook; mother, Aubrey Stadtler of Punta Gorda, Fla.; five children, Chantel Slusarski of Duncan, Neb., Richard Spulak of Norfolk, Neb., Tim (Alyssa) Spulak of McCook, Renee (Eric) Butler of Guernsey, Wyo., and Shawn Spulak of Indianola, Neb.; stepson, Jason (Kate) Brandt of Colorado Springs, Colo.; stepson-in-law, Darren (Jennifer) Burns of McCook; two sisters, Victoria (Roger) Gadsden of Omaha and Cheryl (Jim) VanAnde of Punta Gorda; nine grandchildren and a host of other extended family members.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook with Terry McCorkle officiating.
