Passenger numbers improve for quarter

McCOOK, Neb. — The number of passengers flying to and from the McCook City airport on Boutique Air are looking up for second quarter totals.

Boutique Air, the federally subsidized essential air service at McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport, reported a total of 579 passengers flying out of the airport from April to June. That’s a 2.85% decrease from second quarter totals in 2018 at 596. Although still a decrease, it’s better than first quarter totals this year that saw a 30.72% drop from the previous year, with 387 passengers January-March this year compared to first quarter totals of 573 in 2018.

Deplanement numbers for the second quarter were also better than first quarter. The total number of passengers flying in to the airport from April to June was 561, a slight 2.60% decrease from the 2018 numbers at 576. First quarter totals of 371 passengers was a 35.37% drop from 2018 numbers with 574 passengers.

A total of 47 flights, from 50 scheduled, flew from the McCook Airport to Denver, with three cancelled due to weather. The same number of flights were scheduled to fly into McCook from Denver, with three also cancelled due to weather.

A total of 199 passengers in June flew out of the McCook Airport, with 190 flying in.
