Chase leads area girls into state

OMAHA, Neb. — A group of six freshmen among their 13 state qualifiers should show Chase County girls won’t be slowing down anytime soon.

Yet the Longhorns are focused on this season with a goal of capturing their third Class C state team title in four years.

The Longhorns’ 13 qualifiers lead a close Class C field where Malcolm will bring 12, Aquinas 11 and North Bend Central 10.

Overall, there are 43 Gazette-area girls qualified . Cambridge (six) and Maywood Hayes-Center (five) are next in line for most qualifiers behind Chase.

Every school is represented including the McCook Bison’s three. Seniors Mackenzie Smith and Jayceea Hanson are both returning following another dominant B-6 district performance last week.

Class B

McCook (3) — Seniors Jayceea Hanson and MacKenzie Smith; freshman Addison Randel.

Class C

Chase County (13) — Seniors Adelaide Maxwell, Allison Owings and Taylor Williams; juniors Madison Brown, Ashley Bubak and Mallie McNair; sophomores Kamrie Dillan and Kora Weiss; freshmen Chloe Dillan, Jordan Jablonski, Caelyn Long, Jerzee Milner and Lucy Spady.

Cambridge (6) — Seniors Addie Sides and Kaelie Tomlin; juniors Korynn Clason and Cali Gunderson; freshmen Autumn Deterding and Paige Sickels.

Southwest (2) — Seniors Nicole Dewey and Kailee Miller.

Southern Valley (2) — Freshmen Brianna Quinn and Brianna Russell.

Class D

Maywood-Hayes Center (5) — Senior Jayden Widener; juniors Abbie Brott, Avery Johnson and Jaycee Lapp; sophomore Jaycee Widener.

Dundy County-Stratton (4) — Senior Citori Lutz; juniors Jessie Freeland and Sydney Reichert; sophomore Haylee Davis.

Arapahoe (2) — Seniors Joslyn North and Mariah Watson.

Hitchcock County (2) — Senior Kyleigh Scott and junior Kass Kisker.

Medicine Valley (2) — Senior Alex Ellermeier and freshman Kaylyn Roblee.

Wauneta-Palisade (2) — Junior Michaela Dukes and sophomore Zoey Boos.
