ARAPAHOE, Neb. — Lorena Ems, 99, of Arapahoe, died Monday (May 6, 2019), at the Tabitha Journey House in Lincoln, Neb.

She was born July 11, 1919, in Edison, Neb., to Louie and Josephine (Dawson) Roepke. She graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1936. She taught school at a country school north of Arapahoe. She married Morris Ems in 1938.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe, the Methodist Women’s group, the Arapahoe Legion Auxiliary, and Eastern Star and served on the Arapahoe Cemetery Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morris Ems; son, Larry Ems; brothers, Neal, Lyle and Orville Roepke; and sisters, Lois Petska, Wauda Meyerhoeffer, Leota Penn, and Juanita Laverack.

Survivors include children, Donald and wife, Rhonda Ems of Mesa, Ariz., Myrna Ems of Arapahoe, Linda Fritz and Donna and husband, Rick Wolzen, all of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Donna Ems of Tacoma, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Thursday, May 9, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wenburg Funeral Chapel in Arapahoe and prior to services at the church.

Services are Friday, May 10, 2019, 1 p.m., with visitation prior to that at 12:30 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe.
