Bronco boys take team title at Trenton

TRENTON, Neb. — Wauneta-Palisade’s boys scored 167 points to win the Hitchcock County Invitational on Tuesday.

Quick recaps of top placers with more results appearing this week:

— Senior Caid Doetker won the 100-high hurdles (17.27) while W-P teamates Duncan Rector (18.9) and Grant Walker (19.2) finished 2-3;

— Junior Ben Anderjaska won the 800 meters (2:21.9) with senior Joel Maris second (2:23.9) in windy conditions;

— Hitchcock County’s Travis Neben conquered the 1600 meters (5:20.2) ahead of Tate Hartley from Maywood-Hayes Center (5:23.1);

— Neben also won the 3200 (12:44.3) by better than 15 seconds over Elwood’s Bryce Teter;

— Bronco 300-hurdlers Doetker (46.8), Walker (47.1) and Rector (47.1) took three of the top four places behind champ Patrick Hansen of Creek Valley (45.8);

— Wauneta Palisade won two relays.

Dalton Harchelroad, Ben Anderjaska, Austen Rozelle and Ty Duvel won the 400-relay (46.2).

Harchelroad, Maris, Doetker and Anderjaska went the distance for first in 1600 (3:51.1).

— Duvel won the high jump (6’) and Rector ruled pole vault (10’).

— Senior Dennis Cavanaugh owned both throws. He won the shot put at 39’9 1/2” ahead of Hitchcock’s Aaron Oberg (37’7 1/2”).

Cavanaugh delivered the discus title by hitting 132’7”.
