McCOOK, Neb. — Howard Myron Lahman, age 93, passed away at his home on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, in McCook.

He was born at his family’s farm 10 miles north of Winona, Kan., to Charles J. and Margaret Stover Lahman. He attended and graduated Winona High School in 1945.

On Sept. 9, 1950, Howard was united in marriage to Joanne Nall in Nevada, Mo. The made their home in Winona where two children were born to this union: Melinda and Phillip Ray. Howard worked on the family farm until 1953, when he enrolled in an electronics course for radio and TV repair. During this time, he drove a school bus and delivered propane. In 1955, he finished his courses and opened a small repair shop in his home.

In 1963, Howard moved his family to Brush, Colo., where he worked in Fort Morgan in Stickeny’s TV Shop. In 1975, due to health, he and Joanne moved to west of Loveland, Colo. In 1990, they moved to Oberlin, Kan., and then to McCook in 2008.

Howard had a large collection of antique radios from the early 1900s, that were all restored and in working condition. He and his son restored several old cars and a pickup. He and Joann also restored antique furniture for themselves and many other people.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Ray in 2015; three brothers and three sisters-in-law.

Howard is survived by his wife, Joanne, of 68 years and daughter, Melinda Speaker, both of McCook; two grandchildren, Jason Speaker and Tawnya Byarlay; three great-grandchildren, Emily and husband, Andrew Royer, Sarah Byarlay and Nathanial Byarlay; and great-great-grandson, Seth Royer.

Howard chose cremation with a private family inurnment in the Winona Cemetery in Winona. Kan.
