CULBERTSON, Neb. — Lindsay Vap feels most comfortable in a pair of jeans, a hoodie and a ball cap.

BUT, she does like to get dressed up to go out, AND she loves helping women look good and feel good about themselves.

So, in her new shop, a boutique she calls “Wild S & Co.,” Lindsay carries blue jeans, hoodies and ball caps, and an eclectic array of fashionable and trendy clothing for women who range in size from small to 3X. She also offers jewelry, accessories, candles, boots, car freshies.

Among the clothing, jewelry, accessories, ball caps and candles, “there’s something for everyone,” Lindsay promises.

“I carry a lot of everything,” Lindsay smiles. “There’s something for everyone. I hate for someone to leave empty-handed.”

Lindsay loves to pull together complete outfits — check out her Facebook pages. A customer can walk out of Wild S feeling new from top to bottom — with ball cap or stocking cap, shirt and sweater layered over a T-shirt, jeans or denim shorts, vest jacket, jewelry, bag and boots. Because the combinations are endless, the possibility of someone else having the same look is practically impossible.

Wild S reflects Lindsay’s personality — country florals to trendy animal prints. From comfy hoodies to sassy sweaters. And boots. And Lindsay likes to throw in something a little different, a little “ahead of its time,” “something on the verge of a little wild” — exposing her customers to styles and trends long before they become commonplace and something that everyone’s wearing.

Lindsay’s ball caps are very popular. “It’s crazy … they’re a huge seller,” she says. The caps are custom made by a lady in Texas, Lindsay says, made to order to Lindsay’s colors and logos. Definitely not the same ball cap everyone’s wearing.

Clothing sizes range from small through 3X — Lindsay enjoys the challenge of finding stylish curvy sizes. “We’re from Nebraska. We eat beef. Some of us like to wear our clothes loose. I could sell curvy sizes all day long,” she says, grinning. “I can sell ‘em. I just have to find ‘em,” she chuckled, determined to carry on the search.

Lindsay opened Wild S & Co. boutique in Culbertson on Nov. 15, having relocated from downtown Trenton after a couple years and re-imagining this new shop.

Wild S is situated at 603 Wildmar, a country blue two-story cottage trimmed in soft white located one block east of the Hitchcock County Elementary School on Arizona Street and half-a-block south, on the east side of the street. Look for the sign, the new sidewalk and new rock drive.

Wild S is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Lindsay plans extended hours for holiday shopping.

Lindsay’s a nurse by trade, and her mother, Debbie Spencer, can be found at the boutique when Lindsay’s working at the hospital.

That explains the “S” in Wild S, Lindsay says; her maiden name is Spencer. The shop is located on “Wild”mar Street, so that explains the “Wild.” And she adds, “The ‘& Co.’ is if my girls want to continue it … it’s for future possibilities.”

Lindsay says her website is under construction, and that customers should be able to purchase online shortly after the first of the year.
