Senior Syd Wier capped a strong Bison tennis career, posting a 26-8 record at No. 2 singles.McCook’s No. 1 doubles team featuring senior Caden Bortner and sophomore Mason Michaelis were a terrific 27-8 this season. They only dropped one game in an opening state triumph against South Sioux City’s Andrew Colling and Daxton Grace.

Wiemers provided these season-closing comments:

“As for the season, the varsity finished with a 8-2 dual record, while the junior varsity closed out the season with a 9-1 record. One of the highlights of the season was winning our first conference championship. Not only did the team win the title, but they swept all four divisions with a perfect 5-0 record respectively.

Looking ahead to next year, we return a solid nucleus of our team. Zion will return for his senior season after completing his first season at #1 singles. Logan and Isaac will most likely move up to #1 doubles next season.

We will look at moving Mason to #2 singles next season, as Syd being a senior will graduate after a solid season. With those four returning, we have a greatstar. We also want to thank the awesome support we received from our parents.”
