Wednesday, October 10, 2018

IMPERIAL, Neb. — The McCook C team finished the football season 4-3 with a 22-12 loss to the Chase County Longhorns JV team Monday night in Imperial.

Coach Bill Ramsay provided these remarks:

“This has been a good year, the players have been very coachable, worked hard and have shown tons of improvement this season.

Offensively, we moved the ball at times but needed to take care of the football better. We had two nice scoring drives.

Defensively we played pretty well but had a few break downs that allowed them to score.”

The scoring summary:

First Quarter

0-8 Chase County Kickoff return for TD, PAT run good

6-8 Cole Cappel 2 yard run, PAT run no good.

Third quarter

6-14 Chase County 20 yard pass, PAT no good

Fourth quarter

6-22 Chase County 45 yard pass. PAT pass was good

12-22 Logan Havlicek 6 yard run, PAT no good.

Hastings wrap

The McCook “C” team goes to 4-2 on the season following a 22-0 win against the Hastings on Thursday.

Ramsay’s comments:

“Defensively, I thought we played a great game. I felt our defense did an outstanding job of containing a very good Hastings offense.

We did a nice job of stopping their running attack and when they passed the ball our defensive backs were in the position to make plays with 2 interceptions during the game.

Offensively, we played a great first half, we controlled the line of scrimmage and the backs did a nice job of following their blockers and hit the holes hard. We had 2 nice drives for touchdowns. The second half we struggled to move the ball and seemed to be plagued by turnovers and penalties.”

Scoring summary:

First quarter

8-0 Cole Cappel 25 yard run, PAT Pass from Cade Cappel to Adrian Manzanares was good

Second quarter

16-0 Dylan Paschal 7 run for a touchdown, PAT run by Branson McDonald was good

22-0 Branson McDonald 65 yard interception for a topuchdown.

PAT kick was no good.
