Seniors win four of five at Hays
HAYS, Kan. — McCook’s National Bank Seniors battled past four opponents and lost only once in five games at the Hays, Kan., Tournament last weekend.

MNB Seniors got things moving in the first inning Friday evening.
Derek Greenlee drove in two when he doubled.
Drew Harvie was the winning pitcher for MNB Seniors. MNB Seniors racked up eight hits in the game.

MNB Seniors took the lead late and defeated Russell 5-4, Saturday afternoon.
MNB Seniors trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Logan Greenlee singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

James Mockry earned the win for MNB Seniors. He surrendered four runs on five hits over six innings, striking out one. Stevens threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen to earn the save.
MNB Seniors tallied nine hits in the game. Stevens, Logan Greenlee, and Seth Dugger each racked up multiple hits for MNB Seniors.

Longmont, Colo., 0
Clayton Stevens threw a gem on Sunday for MNB Seniors, allowing zero runs and besting Longmont by a score of 4-0.
Stevens threw a one-hitter against Gothenburg earlier last week to clinch the league West Division title for MNB. He allowed just three Longmont hits on Saturday.
In the second inning, MNB Seniors got their offense started when Spencer Krysl grounded out, scoring one run.
MNB Seniors scored three runs in the fifth inning. MNB Seniors’s offense in the inning came from a single by Seth Dugger and by Krysl.
Stevens improved to 7-0 as he went seven innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out six.
DJ Gross went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead MNB Seniors in hits.

Longmont 17s 5
MNB Seniors defeated Longmont, CO 17U 6-5 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game.
The game was tied 5-5 with MNB Seniors batting in the bottom of the sixth when Clayton Stevens singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
MNB Seniors earned the victory despite allowing Longmont, CO 17U to score three runs in the second inning.
Trae Koetter pitched MNB Seniors to victory. He lasted six innings, allowing 10 hits and five runs while striking out two and walking one.
Stevens threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Stevens recorded the last three outs to earn the save for MNB Seniors.
MNB Seniors racked up seven hits. Stevens and James Mockry each collected multiple hits for MNB Seniors. MNB Seniors was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
Gross had the most chances in the field with seven.
Hays, Kan., 10,
McCook 0
MNB Seniors struggled to get their offense going on Sunday, getting easily dispatched by Hays, 10-0.
One bright spot for MNB Seniors was a single by DJ Gross in the fourth inning.
Seth Dugger took the loss for MNB Seniors. He surrendered six runs on five hits over four innings, striking out one.
Gross led MNB Seniors with the one and only hit.
McCook can regain momentum this week while playing four games in three nights.
The Seniors host their league title game Wednesday evening at McCook’s Jaycees Complex.
They’ll move on to play a good Kearney team Thursday night in Kearney.
On Saturday, Alliance will travel into McCook for the MNB Seniors’ final regular-season action.
First pitch is set for noon on Saturday at the McCook Jaycees Complex.
The B-6 area tournament is set to start on Thursday, July 19 with all playoff games in Holdrege this season.
