Indians add Georgia sharpshooter

McCOOK, Neb. — McCook Community College Men’s Basketball adds their first recruit for the 2018-19 season with the signing of Miles Black.

Black, a 6’4” guard from Jonesboro, Georgia, played his prep basketball career at Jonesboro High School under Coach Daniel Maehlman.

The Jonesboro High School Cardinals have been a powerhouse in Georgia over the last several years.

As a freshman, Black was part of a 2014 4A state championship team that went 32-1 and ranked No. 9 nationally.

During his sophomore season he played in 23 games for the Cardinals, who finished 28-5 and runner-up in the 4A State Tournament.

Jonesboro made the move to 6A in 2016-17, and Black averaged 14 points through six games before missing the rest of his junior year with an injury.

In his senior season, Black help lead the Cardinals to a 23-9 overall record, 15-1 in the region and a Georgia 6A state Final Four appearance.

Black was the 2nd leading scorer for the Cardinals at 9.5 points per game, while averaging three assists and three rebounds.

He led Jonesboro with 53 three-pointers made on 40% shooting for the season. Black received 6A Region 4 second-team honors.

“Miles can really shoot the ball,”Indians coach Brandon Lenhart said. “We need guys that can shoot it next year, and he has the size needed to compete in our region night in and night out. He is a tough kid and he comes from a winning program. We are thrilled to add Miles to our basketball family.”
